12 WEEKS TO POWERWALKING

 

Introduction

When first planning this website, the intention was to share information on marathon and distance walking training. However, not everyone is ready to take on a marathon when they set out to make walking their fitness activity!!

This section has been added to: (1) provide a framework to "test the waters" with walking - give it a chance as a possible alternative for fitness !!  (2) to take you beyond "just walking" to a level where you can get a great fitness workout, comparable to returns achieved with running, and prepare you for other challenges, eg. distance/marathon walking or competitive walking.

Powerwalking or fitness walking is basically fast walking at a pace somewhere between a 15 minute/mile and a 10 minute/mile. This 12 week program aims to take you to the mid-point of this range - a 13 minute/mile pace.
